As far as education goes, Roman boys were tutored by their fathers and often slaves until about six or seven, then these boys were sent to public school. They remained in public school until twelve or thirteen, and the wealthy boys continued school until sixteen, when they began to learn how to manage their own properties. Boys often became soldiers, doctors, politicians, or lawyers. The girls were also tutored by their fathers and slaves until about age six or seven, then public school. They only stayed in school until they were about twelve or thirteen. Then the girls had the option of becoming a dentist, a real estate agent, a tutor, or a midwife.
