One of the most famous elements about Ancient Rome is its culture. This was such an advanced civilization that their artifacts (art, pottery, etc.), as well as many other important aspects, are still remembered today. First off, the Ancient Romans told many myths about Rome. One of the myths described how Ancient Rome had been founded. According to the legend, two sons named Romulus and Remus were born long ago. Their mother was a princess, and their father was Mars, the Roman god of war. The king, the princess’s uncle, ordered his men to drown the twins in the Tiber River fearing that they would grow up to take his throne. A wolf rescued Romulus and Remus, and when they grew up, they decided to build a town on the river’s banks. However, the two brothers fought about who should rule over the city. Romulus killed his brother to become king of the city, and he named it Rome. Another myth that was told by Ancient Greeks was about Brutus’s rise to power. Two Etruscan princes traveled with Brutus to see the famous oracle at Delphi in Greece. The oracle said that the next man to kiss his mother will have authority in Rome. Brutus pretended to trip, and his lips touched the Earth, “mother of all things”. He drove out the kings with other Romans and became one of the first new republic leaders.
This picture represents the interactions between Ancient Romans. As you can see, there are many different people in this image, all of different ages and backgrounds, and yet these people were able to put aside their differences and communicate with each other.
